One semester of story-led, cross-curricular learning built around transformation, made for the youngest learners.
Primary | 4-7

Anchor Artists

Maria Sibylla Merian spent her life watching caterpillars become butterflies, recording what she saw with a patience most adults never learn. Yayoi Kusama turned a single dot into an entire universe, showing that what happens inside a person is just as real and just as vast as anything visible. Faith Ringgold stitched her own history into quilts, proving that a story does not need permission to matter, only a way to be told.

Themes Explored

Metamorphosis, with Merian, teaches children that change happens in stages, and every stage matters. Patterns, with Kusama, shows that repetition can calm a body or energize it, and that feelings can become something a child can see and hold. Story, with Ringgold, teaches that every life is made of pieces worth stitching together. Across all three, children build a quiet understanding that growth looks different for everyone.

What's Inside

Fifteen weeks of story-led learning, five weeks per artist. Each week includes a read-aloud living biography chapter, vocabulary cards with grownup prompts and hands-on challenges, movement breaks, an art invitation, and a reflection close. Cross-curricular threads run through science, geography, math, language arts, and social-emotional learning.

Who This Is For

Built for Primary learners, ages four through seven. No prior experience needed. Sits alongside other Wonderpath Spine levels for households teaching more than one age at once.

Full Description

Welcome to Semester 2: Transformation, where little learners discover how art and imagination can change the world. Designed for ages 4–7, this story-driven curriculum brings the theme of transformation to life through the eyes of three visionary artists:

  • Maria Sibylla Merian – The Nature Explorer (metamorphosis, insects, and the wonder of life cycles)

  • Yayoi Kusama – The Infinity Dreamer (patterns, dots, and the magic of seeing the world differently)

  • Faith Ringgold – The Story Quilter (art as storytelling, transformation through community and identity)

Inside each month’s unit you’ll find:

  • 📖 Living Biography Chapters – Storybook-style lessons written for curious young minds.

  • 🎨 Art Invitations – Play-based, hands-on projects with simple steps for Pre-K through Grade 2.

  • 💡 Cross-Curricular Connections – Gentle tie-ins to science, SEL, geography, and language arts.

  • 🌀 Reflection Prompts – Questions to spark imagination, compassion, and creativity.

  • 🌟 Wonder Challenges – Extra challenges for Grades 1–2, perfect for growing curiosity.

This quarter nurtures curiosity and creativity while building foundational learning skills, without rigid rules or pressure. Just soft magic, meaningful stories, and joyful discovery

Some semesters teach a subject. This one teaches a way of paying attention, to the slow unfolding of a caterpillar, to the shape a feeling takes, to the story only you can tell.
