Elementary

One semester of story-led, cross-curricular learning built around wonder, made for elementary learners ready to think more deeply about how artists see the world.
Elementary | Ages 8-10

Anchor Artists

This semester follows three artists who each treated curiosity as a discipline. Leonardo da Vinci returns as the ever-questioning inventor, now studied with more depth than in the Primary level. Alexander Calder built sculptures that respond to air and motion, turning stillness into something children can watch change in real time. Noriko Ambe works in paper and layers, cutting and stacking sheets until flat material becomes something closer to landscape. Her work gives children a quiet, architectural way to think about time and space.

Themes Explored

Wonder at this level moves from noticing to questioning. Children practice following a line of curiosity past the first answer, connecting art to history, geography, and their own observations. Each artist models a different kind of attention: da Vinci's restless inquiry, Calder's play with movement, Ambe's patient layering.

What's Inside

Story-driven monthly units that read like chapters, blending art history, social-emotional learning, writing, geography, and hands-on projects. Guided reflection sits alongside creative exploration, so students build both technical understanding and their own point of view.

Who This Is For

Built for Elementary learners, ages eight through ten. No prior experience needed. Fits naturally alongside other Wonderpath Spine levels for families teaching more than one age.

Full Description

Artists: Leonardo da Vinci • Alexander Calder • Noriko Ambe

Let curiosity lead the way in this story-rich, cross-curricular art journey through Wonder. This unit invites elementary learners (ages 8–10) to follow the footprints of three incredible artists:
🧠 Leonardo da Vinci, the ever-curious inventor
🎠 Alexander Calder, the playful sculptor of movement
🌊 Noriko Ambe, the quiet architect of layered time and space

Each month unfolds like a chapter in a story—blending art history, SEL, writing, geography, and hands-on projects designed to spark creative thinking and meaningful conversations.
Through guided reflection and immersive exploration, students won’t just learn about art—they’ll begin to see the world through an artist’s eyes.

This curriculum celebrates diverse perspectives, critical thinking, and the joy of slow, intentional learning.

Let wonder lead the way.

Wonder here becomes a habit of mind. A child who learns to follow one good question carries that skill into everything else they study.
